ICRO Chief to Lead Iranian Delegation at Kazakhstan’ Traditional Religions Conference

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The head of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) will leave for Kazakhstan today to take part in the VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.

Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Mehdi Imanipour will lead a high-ranking delegation at the international gathering.

Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought Hojat-ol-Islam Hamid Shahriari and member of Iran’s Assembly of Experts Ayatollah Ahmad Moballeghi are among other members of the delegation.

During his stay in Kazakhstan, Hojat-ol-Islam Imanipour will also hold talks with representatives of different faiths on enhancing cooperation and finding solutions to regional and international crises.

He will also visit a number of scholarly, scientific and cultural centers in the Ceneral Asian country and meet with Kazakh officials to discuss ways for developing cultural ties between the two countries.

The VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions will be held in the city of Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, on September 13-15.

More than 140 religious, cultural and other figures from 60 countries will be attending the international event.

They include Pope Francis, the Sheikh of Egypt’s Al-Azhar Islamic Center, Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia, president of Turkey’s Directorate of Religious Affairs, and Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims’ Board.

The congress is held in the Kazakh city every three years.
